Let's imagine that someone was so stubborn and 

Counterproductive: Highlighting that their actions would go against their own interests.

Shortsighted: Suggesting they are not thinking about the long-term consequences of their actions.

Impulsive: Describing someone who acts without considering the potential consequences.

Maladaptive: Indicating that their behavior is not helpful in dealing with a situat

This is how they frame people using data sets. This device didn't even exist back then, yet I bet the filesystem is rife with this date. 

They tamper with the internal clock to overwrite changes and leave no trace.
