You know, it's really quite amusing, because, out of desperation, I wrote a letter to my father asking for financial support. Kathy will remember she bought me approximately 25 dollars worth of groceries to get me through until my mom and Dave returned, from what was supposed to be 5 weeks and had turned into 5 months gone. I didn't have postage, and eventually thought better of sending the request for his help. The letter, already addressed and in the envelope, disappeared, without me even being aware of it going missing, from the dresser in my mom's room where I had it stuck in my journal.
My dad asked me why I lied to him on our way home from my mom's wake, and I was so baffled, because to save my life I couldn't imagine what he was talking about. Helene too, after dad died, asked why I tried to scam him and when I asked what she meant, she got all choked up and said I lied in the letter.
